UPDATED: 9:48 pm PDT June 25, 2009

A statewide Amber Alert issued Thursday afternoon for an 11-year-old girl reported missing in the Salinas area was canceled after the girl was found safe.

Maria Roldan was found safe in a motel room on the east side of the city around 3:40 p.m., police Sgt. Chris Lane said.

According to authorities, Roldan was reported missing on June 24, at 4:32 a.m. She was allegedly abducted in the area by 21-year-old Joventino Benegas.

Benegas was driving a green Daewoo sedan with an unknown license plate, authorities said.

Roldan, who is Hispanic, 5 feet tall and weighs 116 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes may have gone willingly with Benegas, Police said.
