An 11-week-old English bulldog from South Texas is about to replace Cpl. Molly Marine as one of the Marine Corp's three official bulldog mascots.

The champion-bred bulldog puppy from Castroville doesn't yet have a name. But she heads out next week for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.

After obedience training, the youngest Marine will head to boot camp.

Depot spokeswoman Janice Hagar told the San Antonio Express-News that once the bulldog is ready, she'll be attached to one of the training companies.

She'll have a tiny uniform, attend graduation events and visit school. She'll also have the chance to rise in rank.

Cpl. Molly Marine has been one of the Corp's official mascots for almost seven years and is ready to retire. She can salute with her paw, sit, bow, crawl and sing on command.

Michelle Rodriguez of Castroville said it is a great honor to have bred a Marine Corps mascot, whose duties include of the mascot taking a first taste of beef at officers' dinners.
