Pick Up Stix Manager Robbed At Gunpoint

POSTED: 10:51 am PDT June 15, 2009
UPDATED: 11:35 am PDT June 15, 2009

The manager of a Pick Up Stix restaurant in La Mesa was robbed Monday as he was getting into his car with cash from the business, a police lieutenant said.

A silver or gray Volkswagen Passat pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant at 8025 Fletcher Parkway around 9 a.m. and stopped behind the manager's car, La Mesa police Lt. David Bond said.

The driver then pointed a semi-automatic pistol at the manager while demanding the bank bag he was carrying, along with his car keys, according to Bond.

The manager complied and was unhurt, Bond said. The bandit, who had a male passenger with him, then drove off.

The gunman was described as a Latino in his mid-30s, with a heavy build, shaved head and goatee. He was wearing a red- and green-striped polo shirt, Bond said.

The passenger was a Latino man with spiked hair.

The extent of the loss was not disclosed.
