Authorities Investigating Poway Mansion Fire

POWAY, Calif. -- Authorities Tuesday are investigating what caused a two-alarm fire at the $1.9 million home of a former Poway City Council candidate.The non-injury fire broke out in the 13600 block of Via Serena in the Green Valley Estates of Poway shortly before 6:30 p.m. Monday, a Poway fire dispatcher said, adding that it took crews about an hour to gain control over the blaze.The homeowners, Dr. Scott Harman and his wife, Catherine, were not home when the fire broke out, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Harman, a radiologist at Alvarado Hospital Medical Center in San Diego, ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the Poway City Council in 2004.A damage estimate was pending. Property records show the 6,719-square- foot five-bedroom, five-bath home has an assessed value of $1.9 million, the Union-Tribune reported.
