New Bus Route To Ease Golden Triangle Congestion

The heavily congested Golden Triangle area of San Diego is getting a loop bus route. Service is scheduled to begin June 15. The route will have nine stops, including UCSD, La Jolla Village Square and Scripps Hospital.

High-tech, electric busses will generate their own electricity from onboard generators, the Union Tribune reported. Bus stops will have electric signs to indicate bus arrival times. Busses will operate every 10 minutes during peak hours, an official with the Metropolitan Transit System said.

A special bus only lane and traffic lights that stay green when a bus approaches will help speed service throughout the loop.
