SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders plans a high-profile lobbying trip to the state capitol Tuesday to protest potential confiscation of local government money by the nearly-bankrupt state government.Sanders will join the mayors of Sacramento, Los Angeles and Santa Ana to protest one state proposal to partly fill a $21.3 billion budget deficit by diverting 8 percent of local government revenues to the state.Such a move would reduce the Los Angeles general fund by $68 million, L.A. officials said.
The mayors will meet with the state treasurer and state comptroller, as well as legislative leaders, on the Tuesday day trip. Noticeably absent from the appointment book, however, is Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
