Sunglasses Store Struck In Smash-And-Grab Robbery

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Thieves smashed a window at a La Jolla store early Friday morning and stole thousands of dollars worth of sunglasses, 10News reported.The incident happened at the Sunglass Hut store in La Jolla on Prospect Street, according to San Diego police.Holly Sheets, the store's San Diego regional manager, said the thieves knew what they were after.
"Basically, Bvulgari, Prada, Versace, all high-end (brands). Nothing else was touched," said Sheets.Sunglasses were strewn across the floor as police took a look at the merchandise that was left behind.Sheets told 10News the thieves took up to $50,000 of stock from the store.Another Sunglass Hut store at the Del Mar Plaza was robbed of $34,000 worth of sunglasses earlier this month.No one was in the La Jolla store when the break-in occurred, but surveillance video captured the incident on tape.Sheets said the thieves smashed and grabbed, and were in and out."You see them barrel through the window, break glass ... in there not two minutes, and out," said Sheets.The sunglasses that were stolen cost about $220 to $500 a pair.Sheets said she called her corporate office to deliver a shipment for Memorial Day weekend.Police have not released a description of the robbers.
