Man Takes Women's Purses At Gunpoint In La Jolla

POSTED: 7:54 am PDT May 22, 2009

A man emerged from a car in La Jolla and took the purses of three women at gunpoint, then rode off, police said.

The man was the front-seat passenger in a newer white Chrysler four-door sedan that pulled up to the women in the 7600 block of Fay Avenue around 8:50 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police Sgt. Alan Hayward.

After taking the women's purses, the man sat in the Chrysler's rear seat and the driver drove off, Hayward said.

No injuries were reported.

Police described the purse snatcher as a black male in his 20s wearing jeans and a black sweatshirt.
