Authorities Monday released the name of a 27-year-old college student who was killed when his car slammed into a tree in Valley Center.

Brian Simnjanovski was driving his Audi sedan on Valley Center Road at Vesper Road shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday when, for unknown reasons, he swerved and crashed into a tree along the roadway, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, the California Highway Patrol reported.
