Will Miss California Keep Her Crown?

Group To Determine Carrie Prejean's Fate Monday

The co-director of the Miss California USA pageant says he plans to address the controversy surrounding title holder Carrie Prejean on Monday, but that the ultimate decision for whether she retains her crown lies with Donald Trump, who owns the Miss USA contest.

Keith Lewis and co-director Shanna Moakler have scheduled a live news conference for Monday morning in Beverly Hills to "make our case" for whether Prejean should remain in her role, Lewis told The Associated Press on Friday. He said he, Moakler and Prejean's representatives are close to a resolution on the issue.

But unless Prejean relinquishes the job on her own, "Trump ultimately makes the decision" to disqualify her or not, Lewis said. Prejean was named first runner-up in the April 19 Miss USA pageant during which she responded to a judge's question by saying she favored limiting marriage to a man and a woman.

Since then, the state pageant has been investigating whether the 21-year-old violated her contestant contract by making public appearances with groups opposed to same-sex marriage and by failing to reveal that she had posed in her underwear as a teenager.

Lewis says the runner-up Miss California, Tami Farrell, will be introduced at Monday's news conference. He said Prejean has been invited, but he does not know if she will attend.

On Thursday, adult film studio Vivid offered Prejean an opportunity to star in an adult film for $1 million.
