Suspected DUI Hit-And-Run Spree Ends In Crash

SAN DIEGO -- A man suspected of drunken driving caused several hit-and-run accidents on surface streets and a freeway before slamming head-first into a vehicle in the Jamacha area, injuring himself and two women, authorities said Monday.The 38-year-old man and the two women, ages 41 and 58, were all hospitalized following the collision in the 8600 block of San Vicente Street around 8:20 p.m. Sunday, said San Diego police Sgt. David Jennings.The man was driving eastbound on San Vicente Street when he failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the path of the women's westbound vehicle, Jennings said.The man was hospitalized with possible internal injuries, he said, adding that the 58-year-old woman driving the other vehicle was hospitalized with a fractured foot and her 41-year-old passenger suffered neck injuries.The man's name was not immediately released.
