SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- A San Marcos woman killed over the weekend in a traffic accident on a North County street was identified Monday.

Shelley Meyer, 59, was riding her scooter east on South Santa Fe Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday when she passed through the intersection of Mar Vista Drive and was struck by a small sedan, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The driver of the car was attempting to make a left turn into a convenience store parking lot when the collision occurred, according to investigators.

Medics took Meyer to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

It was not immediately clear if the motorist will face any charges.
