Woman Crashes Car Into Dental Office

Several people inside a Tierrasanta dental office were injured Wednesday when a car crashed through the front of the building and into a patient waiting area.

The 86-year-old woman behind the wheel of the sedan lost control while trying to park in a disabled spot in front of the office in the 10700 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard shortly before 10 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

The vehicle jumped a curb, crashed through a wooden structural support beam and smashed through the front of the office, ending up about eight feet inside the lobby, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said.

Firefighters had to free a man trapped between the car and a wall, Swanson said. Medics transported him for treatment of apparently non-life-threatening injuries.

A woman employed in the dentist's office was treated at the scene for a minor ankle injury, Swanson said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation, though the motorist told firefighters something to the effect of being unable to "find the brake," Swanson said.
