A smoke shop owner who admitted selling methamphetamine and crack cocaine pipes at his North Park store was sentenced Tuesday to three years probation and fined the maximum $2,000.

Christopher Nasser, owner of the Up in Smoke Shop at 2516 University Ave., pleaded no contest March 17 to a pair of misdemeanor drug charges.

Nasser -- who had a 120-day jail sentence suspended as long as he successfully completes probation -- was also ordered to stop selling drug paraphernalia and permanently shut down the smoke shop.

"It was a good result," said Deputy City Attorney Ken So.

As part of an undercover operation, a San Diego police detective purchased five glass methamphetamine pipes from the clerk on duty at Nasser's store, according to the prosecutor.

In all, officers seized more than 600 methamphetamine and rock cocaine pipes, in addition to digital scales, baggies and stash containers from the store, So said.

Nasser was ordered to forfeit all of the property seized in the raids.
