Business Owner Killed In Snowmobile Crash

SAN DIEGO -- Friends and family of a Kearny Mesa business owner were in mourning Friday following her death in a snowmobile crash in South Lake Tahoe.Patricia Warren, co-owner of Warren Wear, died after she lost control of the snowmobile she was driving and it crashed into a tree in the area of Blue Lakes in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.The 52-year-old woman had a 15-year-old girl passenger in the Arctic Cat snowmobile she was driving about 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to the newspaper.
The Alpine County Sheriff's Department's search-and-rescue team, the California Highway Patrol and fire volunteers rode snowmobiles and a snow cat to reach Warren and the girl, the newspaper reported.The accident happened about 12 miles from the Blue Lakes access road, authorities said, according to the newspaper. By the time rescuers arrived, Warren had died.The girl, whose relationship to Warren was not released, was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Reno. Alpine County sheriff's Sgt. Ron Michitarian told the newspaper that the girl suffered major injuries but has since been released.
