2 Injured In Highway 67 Rollover Crash

SAN DIEGO -- Two people were injured Wednesday morning when a sport utility vehicle overturned and rolled 50 to 60 feet down an embankment along Highway 67, just north of Lakeside, authorities said.The crash occurred on the southbound side of the highway, north of Slaughterhouse Canyon Road, around 7:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.Rescue crews freed two people trapped inside a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, the CHP reported.The Tahoe was smashed and the roof of the vehicle was crushed, as seen from Sky10.Southbound 67 was closed for the rescue effort, but a SigAlert was canceled shortly after 9:30 a.m., according to the CHP's Web site.Officials confirmed that all occupants that were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash have been accounted for. Reports of a baby among the injured occupants were unfounded. The extent of the injuries was not immediately reported. The cause of the crash was under investigation.
