U.S. Marshals Arrest Sex Offender Parolee

EL CAJON, Calif. -- Officials of the U.S. Marshal's Service said Thursday a convicted sex offender who was wanted on a parole violation for not registering was arrested Thursday.Charles Thomas was taken into custody at a branch of the San Diego County Library in Rancho San Diego, authorities said.Thomas was sitting at a computer and was quickly arrested without incident.
According to a news release from the U.S. Marshals, Thomas was originally released from Federal Prison in Texas after serving a sentence for sexual exploitation of children.He was given a bus ticket to San Diego but, upon arrival, he decided to send a fax to prison officials in Texas declaring that he was releasing himself from any supervision.U.S. Marshal George Venables stated he was glad that this dangerous predator was taken off the streets of San Diego.
