Postal Service Mechanic Dies In Accident

SAN DIEGO -- Authorities released the name Thursday of a 56-year-old Postal Service mechanic killed by a runaway mail truck in Sabre Springs.Leonard Harders of Ramona was working on the Isuzu delivery vehicle in the 13500 block of Evening Creek Drive North when it began to roll away about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to police and the county Medical Examiner's Office.Harders tried to jump inside the truck to stop it, but slipped and fell, winding up underneath the vehicle, which ran over him, SDPD Sgt. Alan Hayward said.Harders died at the scene, the sergeant said.
