'Person Of Interest' Not A Suspect In Carmel Valley Home Invasions

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit detectives are no longer calling a man arrested on un-related drug charges a "person of interest" in the home invasion robbery that occurred in the Carmel Valley Area Wednesday, police officials said.The man, who arrested in the same neighborhood on unrelated drug charges, is also not a suspect in the case, after a photo lineup was conducted with victims.In a news release, Police Lt. Kevin Ammon said the incident happened Wednesday at about 12:00 p.m.
A man entered the victim’s garage while a woman was getting into her vehicle.The suspect, armed with a knife, forced the victim back into her home. Once inside, he tied her hands and sexually battered her. The suspect then forced the victim into the bathroom and stole her purse, Lt. Ammon said.The suspect is described as a white male or Hispanic male, 30 to 40 years old, 5”7 to 5’8” tall, with a medium build. He was wearing, a baseball cap, sunglasses, a dark shirt, gloves, and dark pants. The suspect was armed with a knife, Lt. Ammon said.A similar case occurred on February 10, 2009, in the same general area. Residents living in the vicinity should be cautious and notify the Police Department if they observe any suspicious activity, Lt. Ammon said.Additional Police personnel were mobilized to assist with this investigation and provide an increased presence, Lt.
