The U.S. Marine Corps will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at Camp Pendleton Friday for a comprehensive recovery center for troops recuperating from combat injuries and illnesses.

Featuring pastoral views of Lake O'Neill and surrounding mountains, the Wounded Warrior Campus will consist of a 100-room building fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as common social halls, recreation areas, kitchens and laundry rooms, according to USMC officials.

The complex near Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton also will include: Warrior Hope and Care Center, a "one-stop shop" services resource tailored to recovering service members; a new headquarters facility; short-term quarters for visiting families; an outdoor amphitheater; therapeutic gardens; and nature trails throughout the adjacent open areas.
