Police Investigate UCSD Campus Sex Assault

POSTED: 6:38 am PST February 23, 2009
UPDATED: 2:23 pm PST February 23, 2009

Police are alerting the public of a sexual assault that occurred on the University of California, San Diego campus on February 3, 10News reported.

According to investigators, a man sexually assaulted a female student on February 3 at 8:30 p.m. in campus parking lot 102.

Investigators said the victim described her attacker as an Asian male, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet one inch tall, 18-22 years of age.

Graduate student Krysten Feldman walks through parking lot 102 every day and told 10News, "This is a pretty well lit parking lot. I walk through here and never notice anyone hanging around, so that was kind of odd."

Feldman learned about the rape from an e-mail that campus police sent to students last Friday.

According to police, the victim reported the attack last week, but police would not say why she took so long to inform authorities.

In November, a man broke into a student's apartment, demanded money and raped a girl. That accused attacker is still being sought by police.

A month later, a man was reportedly groping female students around the campus.

Police told 10News the investigation into the Feb. 3 incident is ongoing and they are doing all they can to protect students.
