Man In Custody After Fatally Injuring Pedestrian

CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- A 45-year-old Los Angeles County man was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of fatally striking a pedestrian in Chula Vista while driving drunk, Chula Vista police said.Peter Dicesare of Whittier was driving a Jeep Wrangler when he struck 75-year-old Ronald Seiler of Chula Vista in the 3100 block of Main Street shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Chula Vista police.Seiler was crossing Main Street, just west of Third Avenue, when he was struck by Dicesare's westbound Jeep, police said.Paramedics took Seiler to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he died shortly after arriving, police said, adding that he suffered head trauma and numerous broken bones.Officers took Dicesare into custody at the scene on suspicion of drunken driving, according to police.Seiler is survived by his wife, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office reported.
