Marco Pesce, 38, and his three children, Carlo, 12, Sabrina, 9 and Melissa, 6, and his mother, Maria Vergati, 68, were found dead by police in their suburban Detroit home in the town of Livonia Sunday afternoon, Detroit's WDIV-TV reported. Police said that they found the bodies after relatives asked them to do a "well-being" check.

Vergati was visiting her son from Italy, the station reported.

The home was reportedly ransacked.

Two people were taken into custody in Detroit and the third person was arrested in Flint, Mich., early Wednesday morning. The suspects were expected to be arraigned Thursday, the station reported.

The family members were shot once in the head execution-style, sources told WDIV-TV. Police said that they believe the murders happened between 5 and 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

Pesce owned the Italia Jewelry Store in Livonia. Neighbors said that Pesce was called away from the store Saturday afternoon.

Police were questioning the children's mother at length, according to Lt. Ben McDermott. She was reportedly divorced from Pesce, but remained in close contact. She lived in the home following the couple's divorce, but moved out of Livonia last fall, according to police.

Police have cited robbery as a possible motive for the crime.
