SAN DIEGO -- A floor heater sparked a fire that caused an estimated $100,000 worth of damage to a Hillcrest home and displaced three people Tuesday, authorities reported. The non-injury blaze in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue erupted about 7 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.Crews had the flames fully extinguished within 25 minutes, SDFRD spokesman Lee Swanson said.
Investigators determined that the single-story house caught fire after a space heater ignited something placed too close to it, Swanson said.American Red Cross personnel were called in to help the residents secure interim lodging.Authorities set the monetary losses at $80,000 to the structure and $20,000 to contents.
