UPDATED: 5:03 am PST December 30, 2008

An autopsy was pending Tuesday for a 64-year-old El Cajon man who apparently cut himself with an electric saw while trimming some tree branches and bled to death.

Herbert Ranney Webster was found by his wife bleeding and unconscious under a tree at the couple's home in the 1500 block of Sundale Road about 1:30 p.m. Monday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Paramedics were unable to save the man. It was unclear where on the body the man was cut. A description of the electric saw was unavailable.

"The death appears to be accidental in nature," according to the Medical Examiner's office.
