SAN DIEGO -- Nine people were arrested in a sweep by San Diego County probation officers through the southeastern part of the city, it was announced Saturday. Five adults and four juveniles were taken into custody for violating terms of their probations during the operation that ran Friday afternoon and night, said supervising probation Officer Kendall Amerige. Two of those contacted attempted to barricade themselves in separate incidents, but they eventually surrendered peacefully, Amerige said.
A woman named in a warrant two years ago was located, as was an documented adult male gang member, according to Amerige. Amerige said information learned during the raids could lead to more arrests. The county's Probation Department conducted the sweep with help from the San Diego Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Office Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Chula Vista Police Department.
