Some Jet Crash Evacuees Allowed Back Into Homes

SAN DIEGO -- Authorities allowed some residents back into their homes in the University City area where a disabled fighter jet crashed Monday, except for the six homes that were deemed uninhabitable, said San Diego Police spokeswoman, Mónica Muñoz.Three of the homes are on Cather Avenue and three are on Huggins Street, Muñoz said.Residents must provide identification showing that they live in the neighborhood. They cannot drive in and will be escorted on foot to their homes.Cars are allowed only on Rous Street north of Lipmann Street, Lipmann north of Rous and Cather west of Weller Street.Residents finding debris are asked to call the Marine Corps immediately at 858-577-1727.Residents wanting to make a claim for damage to their property should call the Marine Corps at 858-577-1876 or 858-577-1889.The numbers were open only until 9 p.m. Monday night and will reopen Tuesday at 7 a.m.
