Suspected Indiana Murderer Arrested In SD

POSTED: 5:22 pm PST November 15, 2008

A man who allegedly bludgeoned two men to death in Indiana was arrested Saturday in Hillcrest, a federal marshal said.

The man, Michael Brown, called Indianapolis Metro Police Oct. 20 saying he had discovered two bodies in their home in Decatur Township near Indianapolis, said U.S. Marshals officer Omar Castillo said.

Brown told police that he went through a back window of the home after knocking on the back door during a welfare check, according to Castillo.

The officer said Brown became a suspect and Indianapolis police issued two felony homicide warrants Saturday in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis police partnered with the U.S. Marshals Office in San Diego after receiving a tip that the suspect had fled to San Diego, according to Castillo.

Earlier Saturday, the San Diego Fugitive Task Force Officers received a tip that Brown was near Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest and found him inside the hospital lobby, Castillo said.

San Diego officers arrested Brown and booked him into San Diego County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Indianapolis, Castillo said.
