Latest Evacuations, School Closings

EVACUATIONS:
Oceanside has announced a mandatory evacuation of the Wilmont Estates area, located in the northeast part of the City, due to the fires on Camp Pendleton that are moving rapidly to the southwest.The residents of this area are being informed by the Reverse 911 system of the mandatory evacuation. The Wilmont Estates area is near Papagallo Dr. An evacuation center is being set up at El Camino High School, located at 400 Rancho del Oro Road.At 8:45 p.m. Monday, fire officials ordered the evacuation of a new area of Bonsall just north of Wilmont Estates. The streets being evacuated were listed as Conejo Road, Wilshire Road and Caroline Lane.At 10 p.m., The City of Oceanside announced that mandatory evacuations are now in effect for the East end of Sleeping Indian to include Wilshire, Indian Trail, Hidden Valley and Camino Baja Cerro. Residents of that area have been notified and are being directed to El Camino High School.A mandatory evacuation is also in place for the Pilgrim Creek area, located west of Vandergrift and North of Douglas Drive, near Luiseno Park. The residents of this area are also advised to go El Camino High School.El Camino High School is also serving as an evacuation center for animals.They will accept all types of animals from horses, birds, dogs and cats.The local Humane Society is calling all its employees back in to evacuate or rescue pets that might have been left behind.For emergency evacuation center information, call 760-435-3300.SCHOOL CLOSINGS:
3 schools in the Oceanside Unified School District, Libby Elementary, Reynolds Elementary and Del Rio Elementary will be closed on Tuesday, October 14. Only these 3 schools will be closed. All other OUSD schools, including El Camino High School, will be open on Tuesday.The Bonsall Union School District said Bonsall West Elementary School would also close Tuesday. Parents can call the District Office at 760-631-5200 for more information.
