OCEANSIDE -- An 11-year-old boy was found unharmed near Oceanside City Hall and reunited with his family today after he went missing for nearly 17 hours, authorities said. He was found by an Oceanside senior volunteer about 10:15 a.m. based on information from a flyer about the missing boy. The boy was seen by friends at the McDonald's Restaurant at 137 Canyon Drive on Friday about 5 p.m., Oceanside police Sgt. Kelan Poorman said.
The sergeant said he had never run away before and was described as a well-behaved boy. A helicopter circled the area this morning and made announcements to the public about the boy, a dispatcher said.
