The 22-year-old man who was knifed to death at San Diego State University was identified Monday as a student at San Diego's Mesa College and a resident of Concord, in the Bay Area.

Luis Felipe Watson Dos Santos was one of four students who had just left a party shortly after 2 a.m., walking on 55th Street near Petersen Gym Drive, reported the San Diego Union-Tribune, when they began arguing with a second group of four men.

The argument escalated into a fight in the middle of 55th Street where Dos Santos and three other people were stabbed by a member of the other group, said San Diego police Lt. Kevin Rooney. Santos died at the scene. Paramedics transported the other three victims, ages 20 to 24, with wounds believed to be non-life-threatening to an area hospital.

According to San Diego Community College spokesperson Rich Dittbenner, Santos and two other victims were Mesa College students. The fourth victim attends San Diego State University.

The suspect fled southbound on 55th Street, according to Rooney.

San Diego State University spokesperson Jack Beresford said he did not know whether the party that the victims attended was at a university residence hall, sorority, fraternity or private home. Beresford said the school's fraternity row is just south of where the fight occurred, reported the San Diego Union-Tribune.
