A former student body adviser at Helix High School who had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student pleaded guilty Tuesday to two misdemeanor charges, including committing a lewd act in public.

Jeff Wenham, 46, also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to report another teacher he knew was having an inappropriate relationship with another student.

Wenham faces a maximum of a year in jail when he is sentenced Oct. 15 by El Cajon Superior Court Judge Roderick Shelton.

Another Helix teacher, Gary Wilcox, was sentenced last month to a year in jail after pleading guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old student.

Two Helix High music teachers, Jessica Kahal and Frank Palumbo, each pleaded guilty to having sex with students, one in 2006 and one in 2007. Each defendant was placed on probation and ordered to do volunteer work.
