10News invites the public to a memorial service for longtime 10News weatherman, Michael Ambrose. Ambrose passed away on August 29, 2008. He was 69 years old. Ambrose was Channel 10's primary weatherman from 1973 to his retirement in 2001.He received his nickname "Captain Mike" when he came on the 10News set wearing the uniform of a World War I flying ace to promote a charity hot-air balloon ride.10News partnered with the Salvation Army for the "Captain Mike Toy Drive" and collected thousands of toys for needy children in San Diego County.
