Firefighters came across a sizable stash of marijuana plants Friday while extinguishing a blaze that tore through a patio behind a Barrio Logan home, authorities reported.

The fire in the 1700 block of Commercial Street erupted shortly after 5:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

It took crews about 15 minutes to put out the flames, which also engulfed a "large amount" of marijuana plants in the patio area, a dispatcher said.

No injuries were reported.

Trolley service through the neighborhood was suspended while firefighters attacked the blaze.
