Woman Fatally Shot On Pala Indian Reservation

PALA, Calif. -- A woman was shot to death on the Pala Indian Reservation Friday, a sheriff's official said.

The slaying near the intersection of Lilac Road and State Route 76 was reported about 11 a.m., Lt. Mike McClain said.

The assailant may have fled in a white, full-size pickup truck, according to McClain, who did not release the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Several possible suspects were being questioned by homicide detectives as of early Friday afternoon, the lieutenant said.

The victim's name was not immediately available.
