Gang Member Caught After Backyard Chase

VISTA, Calif. -- A documented gang member wanted for parole violation was in custody Wednesday following a one-hour search of a Vista neighborhood, where the man jumped in and out of people's backyards, a sheriff's official said.A deputy patrolling near East Indian Rock Road and Townside Drive around 7 p.m. Tuesday recognized a man on a bicycle as Victor Jimenez, a wanted parole violator and documented gang member, said San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Anthony Ray.On seeing the deputy, Jimenez got off his bicycle and began to run, jumping over fences and in and out of people's backyards, Ray said.
About an hour later, deputies found Jimenez in the 100 block of Buna Place and placed him under arrest, the lieutenant said.He was booked into the Vista jail.
