Deputies Plan Raid On Spring Valley's 'Bamboo City'

UPDATED: 4:31 pm PDT August 19, 2008

A notorious homeless camp in Spring Valley known as "Bamboo City" will be cleared soon, Sheriff's officials said Tuesday.

On Wednesday morning, deputies will serve the homeless with formal eviction notices, officials said.

The documents will explain to the inhabitants they are trespassing on private property and must vacate the site immediately, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The County of San Diego and the property owners will conduct a clean-up of the area on August 28th to include the removal of all individuals, personal property, junk, and/or garbage, a Sheriff's deputy said.

Individuals who refuse to vacate the premises will be arrested and their personal property impounded, Sheriff's officials said.
