Two Camp Pendleton Marines Killed In Iraq

The Pentagon released the names today of two Camp Pendleton Marines killed last week in a vehicle crash in Iraq.

Cpls. Adam T. McKiski, 21, of Cherry Valley, Ill., and Stewart S. Trejo, 25, of Whitefish, Mont., died Thursday in Al Anbar Province, according to the Department of Defense.

Both men were towed-artillery-systems technicians with the 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force.

McKiski enlisted in October 2004. His decorations include a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Trejo, who joined the Marine Corps in November 2005, was the recipient of a National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger praised McKiski and Trejo as "true patriots who fought proudly and bravely for their fellow citizens and for the ideals of this country."

"Californians will never forget their courage and sacrifice," the governor said.
