SAN DIEGO -- A sheriff's deputy accused of sexual battery on a woman while on duty is scheduled to be arraigned later this week, 10News reported.Detective Thomas Sadler attempted suicide last weekend following his arrest, authorities said.Sadler, who faces five felony charges after being accused of sexual battery, was in a similar situation in 2002 when another woman took her complaint against Sadler to internal affairs.Nicole Bowman said she was groped by Sadler in a parking lot in Santee. She said it occurred the night before her birthday. Sadler had followed her after a quick stop at a nearby bar, pulled her over and then ordered her out of her vehicle."He told me to stand still and turn around. He took my wrist and handcuffed me. My heart's racing …," said Bowman. The incident happened just a block away from the sheriff's substation."He told me to face him, and he grabbed my shirt and bra in one hand and had a flashlight in the other …," said Bowman.Bowman also said they were in the shadows between two light posts."He exposed my breasts. I was feeling shame, humiliation took over ... and fear," said Bowman. She said she was afraid Sadler would hurt her if she screamed, but she was desperately wishing for another police car to drive by.Although Bowman filed a complaint with internal affairs, Sadler was never charged.Last week, Sadler was accused by another woman who said he forced her into his detective's car and sexually assaulted her in Mission Valley last February. The recent incident was troubling news to attorney Eric Hart, who represented Bowman in a sexual battery lawsuit settled in 2004."It upset me that there's another victim ... police didn't do their job five or six years ago," said Hart."This guy's a terrorist. He preys on women," said Bowman. If Sadler has recovered enough from his suicide attempt, he will be formally charged on Thursday. If convicted of all charges, Sadler faces six years and eight months in prison.
