CHULA VISTA, Calif. - A teenage girl is under arrest and in the hospital Tuesday morning after she slammed her car into a home in Chula Vista.

The crash occurred at 11:15 p.m. at the corner of 5th Avenue and J Street.

San Diego Police said the 17-year-old driver lost control of her car and hit the home. The crash happened as the owner was sitting in his recliner. After he heard the crash, he ran outside and said he saw the girl trying to run away.

She was later caught down the street.

Police said they found two open bottles of alcohol inside her car.

The teen faces reckless driving, hit-and-run and driving under the influence charges, according to initial reports.
