ESCONDIDO, Calif. - A 17-year-old boy was seriously wounded by gunshot wounds to his torso Saturday night in Escondido, a police captain said.
The shooting was reported about 9 p.m. Saturday in the area of Gamble Street and Lincoln Avenue, said Escondido police Capt. Michael Loarie.
The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment and his condition was reported as serious but stable, Loarie said.
"The motive for the shooting is not clear at this time," he said.
Escondido police are checking the area for witnesses and evidence.
The area around the shooting was closed to traffic during the investigation.
