Names of victim, suspect not released

SAN DIEGO - A 19-year-old man stabbed at the Linda Vista Recreation Center died at a hospital Wednesday, and a 17-year-old boy was in custody in the attack, police said.

The victim, whose name authorities withheld, died in a hospital about 12:30 a.m., according to San Diego police Lt. Ernie Herbert.

The young man was stabbed at the recreation center at 7064 Levant St. about 4:10 p.m. Thursday and taken to a hospital, police said.

Detectives arrested a suspect in the 4500 block of Ranier Avenue about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. His name was withheld because he is minor.

Herbert said "the appropriate charges will be added to the juvenile's arrest."
