SPRING VALLEY -- A 19-year-old Navy sailor, who was taking a woman to work, was shot multiple times in an apparent car-to-car shooting in Spring Valley, a San Diego County sheriff's sergeant said Saturday.

Matthew Wilson was found in his car in the 9000 block of Kenwood Drive around 11:30 Friday night by California Highway Patrol officers, Sgt. Antonio Rios said.

Wilson told sheriff's deputies that he was shot by someone in a dark-colored pickup truck with a short bed, Rios said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, but his passenger was unhurt, the sergeant said.
