SAN DIEGO -- A young man charged along with two 14-year-old boys in a burglary and vandalism spree targeting five Clairemont-area churches pleaded guilty Wednesday to receiving stolen property.Reid Dring Adye, 21, will be placed on probation and faces up to a year in jail when he is sentenced Aug. 20 by Superior Court Judge Michael Smyth. As a result of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed charges of possession of a Molotov cocktail, burglary and cultivation of marijuana.
Detectives investigating the series of property crimes arrested Adye and the juveniles after serving a warrant at the defendant's Javier Street home on July 10, according to San Diego police. While searching the residence, investigators recovered property stolen during at least three of the church burglaries and also found a Molotov cocktail, Deputy District Attorney Molly Hale said at Adye's arraignment last week.SDPD Officer Jim Johnson said that in two of the cases, small fires were started within rooms of the churches. In one of the burglaries, a church sustained the loss of paint-ball guns used by their youth groups, Johnson said. The minors were expected to face charges of burglary and possession of narcotic paraphernalia in Juvenile Court.
