UPDATED: 1:48 pm PDT July 16, 2008

A South Bay intermediate school teacher was in custody Wednesday on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student.

Craig Edward Kelso, a history instructor at Granger Junior High in National City, was arrested shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday after National City police officers spotted him driving in the 3400 block of Second Avenue, police Sgt. Mike Harlan said.

The 38-year-old Kelso was a wanted person for several days because he went missing shortly after the molestation allegations came to light, police Lt. Craig Boegler said.

He was arrested and booked into county jail without incident, Harlan said. Kelso faces a variety of felony charges, he said.
