San Diego police searched Tuesday for a knife-wielding man who slashed the forehead of a 19-year-old as he exited a liquor store in Logan Heights.

The victim was emerging from the store in the 2200 block of Imperial Avenue around 5 p.m. Monday when the stranger walked up and said something like, "What do you think of this?" He then pulled a knife from his pocket and slashed the victim across his forehead, San Diego police Sgt. Bob Dare said.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment but his injury was not life-threatening, according to Dare.

The attacker was last seen fleeing on foot southbound on 24th Street, he said. He is Latino, between 18 and 22 years old, with a thin build and shaved head. He was last seen wearing shorts and a white T-shirt with light brown horizontal stripes, Dare said.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
