UPDATED: 11:01 am PDT July 3, 2008

Authorities on the hunt for a man who caused a deadly crash then got a ride away from the scene.

For the first time, family members of the three victims granted a TV interview talking about their wrenching loss.

He was a U.S. Navy Corpsman, based at Camp Pendleton.

She was a wife and mother.

Their young son was also in the car, when a hit and run driver took their lives.

"It's still like a bad nightmare, like a nightmare to me. A happy family, suddenly gone. It's very devastating loved ones, left searching for answers," said the victim's brother, Ariel Pagaspas.

"I couldn't express my emotions. I was in shock," he said.

That shock is slow to wear off, days after U.S. Navy Corpsman, Andres San Agustin, his wife, Maribeth, and their 4-year-old son, Angelo, went for a drive near Hemet.

Also on the road that night, a pickup truck which crossed the double yellow line, crashing head-on into the San Agustins' car, killing all three.

Witnesses say the driver then hopped into another truck and took off.

Detectives tell the family, it was a street race turned deadly.

"He tried to pass his friend's truck, a head-on collision with my brother-in-law's car," said Pagaspas.

It was a collision that also took the life of a beloved uncle. And a collision that also claimed Ariel Pagaspas' sister and her son.

"I feel so alone right now," she said.

Family members were sifting through memories, Wednesday.

Together, they felt a collective anger toward a driver who decided not to stick around.

"He's a coward, he's a coward," said one.

"We want to see him behind bars. He has to pay whatever he did to my family," said another.

No arrests yet, but sources tell 10News search warrants were issued Wednesday and detectives know who they are looking for.

Meanwhile, the bodies of all three victims will be taken back to the Philippines for a funeral in mid-July.
