Aircraft and personnel from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar were scheduled to leave San Diego Tuesday to help fight fires in central California.

Three CH-53 Super Stallion helicopters, each equipped with water buckets, will join four CH-46 Sea Knight cargo helicopters previously sent to Naval Air Station Lemoore, according to MCAS Miramar spokesman Maj. Jay Delarosa.

The aircraft and personnel could be deployed to the Kings County base for up to 30 days, he said.
