SD 'Street Smart' Event Teaches About Fuel Alternatives

California Center for Sustainable Energy’s (CCSE) free annual Street Smart Event teaches San Diegans about fuel alternatives and how to get more mileage for their money. A wide variety of alterantive fuel vehicles will be on display and green transportation experts will be on hand to answer questions. Attendees will also find out how going green means lower car insurance rates and better loans. Street Smart takes place Sunday July 27, 2008 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the California Center for Sustainable Energy, 8690 Balboa Ave., suite 100 San Diego, CA 92123 in Kearny Mesa.Participants can join workshops on ‘hypermiling’ to increase fuel efficiency and learn about new alternative vehicle technologies and the green transportation options available. Keynote speaker Chris Paine, Director/Creator of the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car” will take attendees behind the scenes of the award-winning documentary that investigates the rise and fall of the Electric Vehicle. In his keynote presentation, Paine will show never before seen footage and discuss the seemingly insurmountable challenges of making the film.Also, learn how to get cash back for the purchase of a new alternative fuel vehicle through CCSE’s Fueling Alternatives rebate Program! The goal of the program is to reduce vehicle emissions and dependence on petroleum-based fuels in California by encouraging the use of alternative fuel vehicles.
