A 22-year-old man suffered minor injuries Wednesday when he crashed the motorcycle he was riding at a Rolando-area intersection while fleeing a traffic stop, authorities reported.

The motorcyclist fled from an officer who tried to pull him over in the 4100 block of 54th Street shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Police Department.

He sped off to the east, losing control of the cycle about a minute later, at College and University avenues, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said.

Medics took the man to Mercy Hospital for treatment of superficial injuries, Hassen said.
